You give up control of the blend proportions that way. You should always have graphite. If you have sticky seed treatment, you should have talc as necessary to prevent clumping in addition to the standard quantity of graphite. Blends result in the use of talc regardless of whether it is necessary.

Talc DOES NOT make things sticky. Talc acts as a little bit of a lube and decreases static electricity. It does nothing for the meters, but aids in seed flow to the units. Graphite lubes the meters. A lot of the CIH guys here have gone to using a talc/graphite mix because they were having issues getting seed out to the rows with graphite only.
